Digital inclusion Programme extended in Leicestershire
People in Leicestershire who are struggling with the cost of living can get free internet access under a scheme created by Virgin Media O2 and the Good Things Foundation.
The scheme aims to end the 'digital exclusion' of the poorest in society and describes the scheme "like a foodbank, but for mobile data, the National Databank provides free mobile SIM cards for people who can't access the internet". Three Leicestershire shops have been added to the national network (Beaumont Leys, Market Harborough and Loughborough) of 'Databank Hubs' across the UK. The scheme is open to people who are over-18 and living in a 'low-income' household.
